How do you determine 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4mm & 5mm leather thicknesses? Below are close approximations so you'll have a better understanding of what thickness of leather you need to order.
1.5mm is about 1/16" in diameter.
2mm is about 3/32" in diameter.
3mm is about 1/8" in diameter.
4mm is about 5/32" in diameter.
5mm is about 3/16" in diameter.
Flat braided leather is about 1/4" wide.
Please keep in mind that these measurements are for the leather only...the metal ends will add to these measurements because the ends go on the outside of the leather - which is important, if you plan to string a pendant on a necklace!
If you need further assistance in determining if a necklace will go through your pendant, FIRST take careful measure of the BALE of your pendant (that's the hole of your pendant that your necklace has to string through) in mm with a caliper. If you don't have a caliper, you can take your pendant to your local jeweler and ask him/her to measure if for you. They'll probably do it for you for free if you're nice to them. Then, give us a call or send us an email to:
Info@LeatherNecklaces.Net and we'll gladly measure the ends you're interested in to help you determin the ones that will work for you and your pendant.
